Royal Bank of Scotland 2010-2011
My first position as a freelance UX designer, I was working on the Salespad project to allow RBS investment bank sales staff to quickly access and assess client portfolios and other associated details. I worked closely with business analysts and sales staff to gather requirements and produce a prototype of the platform in Axure. This was then guerrilla tested on the trading floor with a Silverback equipped laptop to cause minimum disruption and gather maximum feedback.

RBS SalesPad further prototype, showing blue ‘lozenges’ to indicate context menu availability. This was borrowed from a chat application that users are familiar with.
RBS SalesPad ongoing concept workshops led to prototype refinements, such as the addition of tabs for non client specific functions. This prototype was the first to be user tested.
RBS SalesPad testing revealed that the blue ‘lozenges’ were not recognised as context menu indicators and that context menus themselves could not be used, sub-navigation was preferred and included in this version.
This RBS SalesPad final version of the prototype was then user tested and very well received. The application was then rebuilt with this new navigation.
